The Office of the Science and Technology Advisor to the Secretary (STAS) is seeking esteemed engineers and scientists from your respective country’s diaspora communities to attend a Science and Technology networking session as part of the U.S. Secretary of State’s 2012 Global Diaspora Forum, taking place, July 25 and 26. The S&T networking session will take place either the evening of the 25th or the evening of the 26th. Here are a few criteria the Office of the Science and Technology Advisor to the Secretary have identified for nominating individuals to participate in this event:
· Scientists and engineers from any diaspora community that are leaders for formal  or informal diaspora networks, could benefit the most from the science events and the Global Diaspora Forum overall and can convey lessons learned to their networks.
·  Scientific diaspora leaders who are deeply engaged in  projects/activities/collaborations with the community in their country of descent.
·  Where no substantial network currently exists, key individuals who have the potential to become a leader/advocate for science connections to their country of origin if given support and encouragement
 
Please submit the list of those persons who you believe should attend the Science and Technology networking session to Mr. Ben Cumbo (cumbobf@state.gov) by close of business, July 2. When submitting the information of these individuals, please be sure to include their name, contact information, the name of the organization they represent, and their respective job titles. Embassy Science attaches are welcome to attend.
